“NOT EVERYTHING THAT IS FACED CAN BE CHANGED.   BUT NOTHING CAN BE CHANGED UNTIL IT IS FACED.”

JAMES BALDWIN

Hi, I'm Sally - a fully qualified and highly experienced relationship counsellor and psychotherapist and a registered member of BACP. I'm based in South Buckinghamshire and work online and in-person with clients and offer a very flexible approach which we develop together based on your needs, circumstances and wishes.

Do you find yourself unable to cope as you once did? Are you arguing more or are there frosty silences? You might feel blamed, unloved, unheard, misunderstood. Depression might be a factor or it may seem you've become incompatible with each other. Your relationship may have broken up and you're struggling to move on.

I have a Masters degree in Relationship Therapy and I've been working with couples, individuals and families for more than seventeen years. I have a deep understanding of a wide range of relationship issues and finding ways to resolve them:

Poor communication · loss of closeness, intimacy and fun in the relationship · affairs and betrayals · dealing with family life · separation and divorce · impact of life events such as having children or retirement · coping with loss ·

step-family issues · effects of depression, anxiety or other illness · managing around Aspergers/ASD · family falling-out or feuds · managing personal and professional relationship boundaries

ABOUT

ABOUT ME

MY EXPERIENCE

I've trained principally with Relate and have also studied with the Institute of Family Therapy and with Tavistock Relationships. I'm a registered member of BACP and I have worked with hundreds of couples, individuals and families since 2004.

APPROACHES

My core approach is termed Systemic. It draws on the idea that everything is connected to, and influences, everything else; that we all give meaning and significance to events and language which is very particular to our own life experience; that difference is often both the joy of why we choose to be with someone, but also what we can find most frustrating and difficult to cope with. Drawing also on ideas from Attachment Theory, I help you to explore how early life experiences may be affecting your expectations and responses in your adult relationship now, and how the difference between you and your partner plays out.

I also draw on neurobiological understandings around trauma in thinking about how you and your partner may respond in emotionally challenging situations.
